Coronavirus instructions: all who return from an epidemic area are recommended to study remotely for 14 days
The University has updated its instructions for travelling, remote work practices and public events organised by JYU. With preventive actions, we especially aim to protect risk groups and ensure uninterrupted progress of studies.
Updates:
- The recommended period of remote work and study has been prolonged to 14 days
- Teaching is currently arranged normally. We are monitoring the situation and optional modes of completion will be introduced when necessary
- If you are ill, please stay at home
- Often-touched surfaces are now cleaned more efficiently in all University facilities
- Please take care of good hand hygiene
- To prevent coronavirus infections and especially to protect risk groups, any international congresses and public events that are organised by JYU and that have more than 30 participants will primarily be held through online connections or as live online broadcasts - this is not the case about teaching which is currently arranged normally
- As for exchange programmes, JYU recommends to cancel exchange visits to the epidemic areas
- If you have questions about the University’s coronavirus instructions, please contact corona.information@jyu.fi
Currently is defined as Mainland China, Iran, South Korea, Italy, the ski resorts of the Tyrol region in Austria and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. The situation is developing and an updated list of epidemic areas should be checked from the THL website.
The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ has prolonged the recommendation for remote work or study to 14 days. The University’s instructions for travelling are also still valid. For the time being, outbound business trips to all epidemic areas defined by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) must be cancelled or postponed to a later date. Also all inbound visits from the epidemic areas, including internships and visits related to doctoral studies, must be cancelled or postponed for the time being.
Instructions for returning from a trip
JYU recommends employees, students and visitors (e.g. conference quests) who have returned from an epidemic area and have no symptoms to stay at home for 14 days and work or study remotely. We also recommend a remote work period of 14 days before returning to the University if you have been in contact with a person (a family member) who has visited an epidemic area or if there is a suspected coronavirus infection in the family.
If you have symptoms, stay at home and immediately contact your health care centre by phone to minimise unnecessary contacts. Outside office hours, contact the emergency clinic. A health care professional will give you further instructions.
If you cannot participate teaching because of quarantine, please contact the education coordinator of you subject and agree on practical arrangements.
All travelling should be considered carefully
JYU also recommends both staff and students to consider carefully other trips abroad because of possible quarantine risk. Even though the target of the trip may not be an epidemic area at the moment, the situation develops. The epidemic area may expand and the return trip may become more difficult or cancelled. Please also pay attention to risks related to trips abroad in your free time (e.g. quarantine and possible resulting loss of income).
When to suspect a coronavirus infection?
A coronavirus suspicion always requires:
- A visit to an epidemic area or confirmed close contact with a coronavirus patient within 14 days before the start of the symptoms
