Coronavirus infections among students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science
On Tuesday morning 26.1., coronavirus infection at the Department of Chemistry was found. Also three coronavirus infections at the Department of Biological and Environmental Science were found on Wednesday 27.1.2021. In addition, one positive coronavirus infection case at the Department of Chemistry was found on Thursday 28.1., but that person has not visited Department since Monday and has not exposed anyone else. Corona infections have appeared among students in contact teaching situations. So far, the staff has not had coronavirus infections.
The personnel of the Departments have traced all persons who might have been exposed to the coronavirus and informed them of the situation. Department level actions have made it possible to quickly stop spreading infections. The traced persons that have been exposed are placed in quarantine. Health authorities are also in contact with all those exposed and carry out follow-up work.
Work in the campus only when it is necessary
Our goal is to terminate the chains of corona virus infections. Remote work should be maximized and working in the premises of the Departments should happen only when it is absolutely necessary. If you work in the University premises, mark it into the Departments' documents. This is needed for possible tracing of chains of infection. The infection can come as a surprise so do not exceed the maximum amount of people allowed in the offices and laboratory-rooms. Further, work-breaks should be done with a minimal number of contacts. Safety masks are to be worn while walking in the corridors.
Now is important to be careful and go to take a coronavirus test with a low threshold. Students and staff have the possibility to be tested on Saturday, 30 January. Check the times and the test points at /en/current/archive/2021/01/low-threshold-coronavirus-test-opportunity-on-saturday-30-january.
