Nature has a massive impact on every one of us. It has a positive impact on our wellbeing, relieving stress, improving concentration and boosting our mood. You can strengthened your relationship by spending more time in nature. In addition, positive feelings and experiences in nature increase the emotional connection with nature.

A moment in nature

A Year in Nature – challenge has been created by Evolution in Action project to help us improve our nature connectedness. It has been adapted to appeal to different age groups: from daycare to work communities. The Year in Nature challenge consists of 50 different tasks designed to help you connect with nature throughout the year and appreciate its beauty and diversity.

- We have created nearly one task for each week, but feel free to complete them at your own pace! For example, you can go on a relaxing nature trip alone, with a friend or with your family. Remember that you can even enjoy nature in your own balcony, on your yard or local park, says Project Coordinator of the Evolution in Action project Elli Liimatainen at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥.

Warmly welcome to feel nature and join the challenge! You can find the challenge at

What is the Evolution in Action project?

The Evolution in Action project was founded in 2017 by a group of scientists in the Department of Biological and Environmental Science at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ in Finland. It it funded by Kone Foundation. The aim of the Evolution in Action project is to promote understanding of evolution, its timescales and how humans impact ecological and evolutionary processes. This will guarantee that people of all ages understand how biological interactions shape and maintain biodiversity and how human actions currently threaten it. The project combine science, art-based methods, action-based teaching, games and storytelling to ensure learning about biodiversity and evolutionary processes. The project wants to ensure easy access to this information in form of teaching materials and workshops, and promote active participation in maintaining biodiversity.
