Achievements of the previous term and goals for the next one

During the chairmanship led by JAMK, significant progress was made. Vesa Saarikoski, Rector of JAMK, sums up the past term of chairmanship as follows:

“Over the last couple of years, the focus has been on learning pathways and on strengthening vitality through internationalisation and employment services. In just a few years, the world has forced us to look for answers to the challenges posed by an ageing population, security and a declining economy. Issues of cooperation and division of labour in education and training are highlighted and ܴⱹää will tackle these in the next phase."

The key strategic objectives of ܴⱹää will remain unchanged in the coming term. However, as cooperation with the region intensifies, the strategy and objectives will be reviewed and updated to better meet the needs of cooperation.

The priorities for the coming term are:

  • Strengthening internationalisation at student and organisational level

  • Developing innovative and flexible education solutions

  • Deepening the vitality of the region and business cooperation

“Wٳ ܴⱹää we want to emphasise cooperation to strengthen Jyväskylä's attractiveness and retention as a city of study and research,” says Jari Ojala, Rector of the JYU.

According to Jarkko Pirkkalainen, Development Director at the Ģֱ, the aim is to increase the attractiveness and competitiveness of Central Finland while promoting sustainable development goals. The cooperation will aim to create even better opportunities for students to build their skills.

Changes in the Finnish educational landscape, demographic trends, competition between cities and a wide range of opportunities call for seamless cooperation. ܴⱹää responds to these challenges by better combining its skills and resources.
