Call for fieldwork research grants 2024
The JYU Coalition for Africa Networks (JYU-CAN) under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences announces a call for 3-6 grants for Master's Degree and PhD students at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ conducting fieldwork in Africa. The grant should be used during the period 1.5. - 31.10.2024. 
The grant can be applied for by any Masters or PhD student registered as an active student for academic year 2023-2024 in any Faculty at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥, whose research topic is related to any African country. University employees or those who have previously had an employment contract with the University connected to their dissertation work are not eligible for this grant.
The application should include the following attachment:

Motivation letter (max 1 page)

CV (max 2-pages)
-
Research plan (max 4 pages) including background, research questions, detailed description of the planned fieldwork, tentative budget and timetable, and information on the collaborators in Africa.
A supervisor’s statement is not required, but the selection committee might contact the supervisor if needed.
The grant amount for a Masters student is up to €1,500 and for a PhD student, up to €4,000. If the application is successful, the grant holder must after the grant period report the use of funding via an electronic form at by 30th November 2024. The grant holders are expected to present on their research in future events arranged by JYU-CAN or other University department.

Deadline for the applications is 15 February 2024 at 4.15±è³¾. Applications cannot be submitted via email.
Grant recipients will be announced immediately after the confirmed decision, latest by 28 February 2024. Applicants who have received a positive decision will be informed of the decision with instructions to the email address provided in the application.
