Board of the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ confirms internal resourcing model and contract with the Ministry of Education and Culture for 2025–2028
The contract negotiations were held with the Ministry on 17 September 2024, and the University must confirm the contract to the Ministry by 18 October 2024. The content of the contract will not be made public until all universities have completed their negotiations. The contract defines the key objectives of the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥â€™s operations, along with their monitoring and assessment.
The Board also confirmed the University’s internal resourcing model. On 27 April 2020, the resourcing model was partially confirmed but remained incomplete, as the share of continuous learning was left to be decided on in the allocation of funding, as well as the share of services and centralised overhead in the allocation of costs, which have now been approved. The funding of continuous learning has been implemented separately through strategic funding, and the costs of services and centralised overhead covered by long-standing charging practices, which no longer correspond to the cost responsibilities of current services.
The financing model of the Ministry of Education and Culture will change as of 1 January 2025. At the same time, the internal resourcing model of the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ will be updated from the beginning of 2025. The results of the working group, which prepared the resourcing model and received feedback from the University management team and the University Collegium, have been utilised in the preparatory work. The members of the extended management team participated in a more detailed survey of the resourcing model. On 14 June 2024, the University Board discussed the internal funding model and gave guidance on further preparations.
The Rector’s event will be held via Teams on 6 November 2024 at 9:00. Rector Jari Ojala will discuss the contract with the Ministry of Education and Culture for 2025–2028 as well as the renewal of the internal funding model.
In the meeting, the Board received an overview of the implementation of the new strategy and the University’s holdings in companies, particularly regarding competition law. There was also a discussion on possible future changes in procurement legislation. In addition, the Board decided to temporarily expel a student who was found guilty of serious exam cheating. During the expulsion, the student is not entitled to their right to study and cannot complete studies based on the decision.
The Board of the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ will next meet on 1 November 2024.
