As a consequence of the controlled financial adjustments, the operating deficit has decreased from the previous year’s corresponding period. The turnover continues to increase more than the increase in expenses.

Several changes have been implemented which will, among other things, make the role of vice deans more unified in the management system, change the decision-making powers related to the doctoral dissertation process, clarify the role and responsibilities of the University’s supervisory staff, and promote participation opportunities for the international members in our community. The Board noted the report it has received on the future development of the Teacher Training School. The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ has proposed to the City of Jyväskylä that in the near future the City could assign pupils to the primary school of the Teacher Training School in such a way that the number of classes would increase from the current number to four parallel classes. The University has also called for a moderate increase in the size of the upper secondary school, so that each year would have six classes. The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ is also prepared to negotiate a higher number of pupils at the Teacher Training School than mentioned above if it is appropriate from the perspective of the City’s school network. However, the proposal to increase the number of pupils at the Teacher Training School requires a more detailed study. The results of the study will be presented as part of the 2025 service network plan for early childhood and comprehensive school education.
The Board of the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ authorised the Rector to sign the invitation to tender for the facility changes of the 3rd and 4th floors of the Agora B block and to take any necessary interim decisions on the procurement. The facility changes are scheduled to begin in the summer of 2025 and be completed by the end of 2026 at the latest. Building D in Mattilanniemi will be given up so that the Department of Mathematics and Statistics will be able to move into the renovated premises. The cost estimate for the facility changes is 3.8 to 4.5 million euros.
