Avoid using fragrances – The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ is a fragrance-free study and workplace
Avoiding the use of strong perfumes is an easy way to take other people into consideration on campus. Strong fragrances can cause unpleasant symptoms, such as cold-like symptoms, headache, migraine, or nausea.
Refraining from using fragranced products shows that we all care for your work and study community, and it is also better for our respiratory health. JYU recommends that all staff members, students, and visitors refrain from wearing fragranced products.
"We encourage all the members of the university community to reduce their use of fragrances. Members have the right to politely tell the other members if their fragrance is too strong", says Piia Löppönen. Löppönen is the Occupational Safety Officer of the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥.
Everyone can limit their use of different fragranced products, for example, by reducing the use of perfumes and after shave lotions.
The fragrance-free policy applies also to the various events organised by JYU. The events are accessible, which also refers to a fragrance-free environment. This is also highlighted in the event announcements and other communication materials. In the future, information signs concerning the fragrance-free policy will be placed on the campuses.
