Quality and responsibility at JSBE

The quality of research, teaching and administration at the Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics, is developed and maintained with determination. The international AACSB and BGA accreditations awarded to the JSBE, and the AMBA accreditation awarded to the Avance's MBA programme are proofs of the quality of our work. We are committed to promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals in our teaching and research.

International accreditations show the quality of JSBE

The JSBE was awarded accreditation by The Association of Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for the first time in autumn 2018 and for six more years in summer 2024. The AACSB is the world's leading organisation for evaluating business education, paying particular attention to the challenge of the Business School's mission, the implementation of its programmes, the competence of its teaching staff, and the achievement of its degree outcomes. Accreditation is granted to the entire JSBE, and covers all our programmes.

The JSBE received its second accreditation, Quality Mark by the Business Graduates Association (BGA), in January 2020. We were one of the first to join the accreditation organization, which focuses on responsible business and ethics, shortly after its launch in 2019. The next BGA accreditation will be in December 2024.

AMBA accreditation supports employment in the international labour market

The Executive MBA programme of Avance is accredited by the Association of MBAs, which offers graduates better employment opportunities in the international labour market.

AMBA accreditation pays particular attention to the scope of the MBA programme, the balance of content and the work experience of students in the business life. AMBA accreditation has only been granted to a small number of high quality MBA programmes. The EMBA programme of JSBE was accredited for the first time in 2011. The next AMBA accreditation will be in December 2024.

Improving the quality and development of management and business education in the EFMD network

EFMD focuses on improving the quality and development of management and business education internationally and operates the accreditation organisation EQUIS. A pioneer in sustainable and responsible business

Sustainable business and economy is a key part of the strategy of the Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics. Ecological, social and economic sustainability are an integral part of the JSBE's degree programmes, and a large part of the work of the JSBE's researchers focuses on different aspects of sustainability. Between 2020 and 2024, more than one third of the JSBE's education will address one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics is involved in several national and international networks promoting sustainable business. The JSBE is a founding member of FIBS, the largest corporate responsibility network in the Nordic countries. Since 2019, we have been a member of the Principles of Responsible Management Education network of the UN Global Compact Corporate Responsibility Mechanism. The network brings together more than 800 higher education institutions and provides a platform for the development of sustainable business and management education. Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics reports on the progress of its sustainability work to PRME every two years.

Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics is also involved in the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI) network, which promotes sustainable change in societies through collaboration between business education and businesses. The GRLI collaboration has resulted in a joint, multi-university applied course in sustainable business, which students complete in multinational practice groups around the world.

Sustainable business and economy is a focus area of the JSBE which covers almost half of the JSBE's research groups.

JSBE is a member of the international Responsible Research in Business & Management network. The network promotes high-quality research on responsible business and promotes the use of research findings in teaching and in business and the third sector.
