Education at the Department of History and Ethnology
Studying at the Department of History and Ethnology lays the foundations for a strong academic career. In particular, it prepares students for research work, critical and scientific thinking, knowledge management, written communication and project work.
Studying history teaches you to understand people and human activity in different temporal and local contexts. The study of history gives students the skills to discover knowledge effectively, to analyse information critically and to produce new knowledge. The study of history develops a broad range of working life skills and graduates can find employment in a wide variety of fields, for example in education, business, administration or various memory organisations.
In the Cultures, communities and change degree programme "KUMU" you can study ethnology, anthropology and cultural policy. KUMU thus combines humanities and social sciences, and as a KUMU graduate you will be an expert in cultural, social and political phenomena.
