Completing a major subject-based degree by 31 December 2020
The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ has moved from major subject-based degrees to degree programmes on 1 August 2017.
According to the Rector's decisions (17.2.2017 and 3.4.2020), a transition has been reserved for students who have started their studies before autumn 2017, and it is possible to complete a degree in accordance with the curriculum of major subject-based education by 31 December 2020.
Studies in accordance with curricula 2015–2017 can be completed until 31 December 2020. In this case, the degree consists of a major subject and minor subjects. However, teaching will be arranged in compliance with the new curriculum. Please check the correspondence of new and old curricula from your faculty’s website and, when necessary, ask for advice from the student and academic services of your faculty.
Completing a major subject-based degree will not be possible after the transition period. That is, starting from 1 January 2021 all students pursue only degrees that are based on the degree programmes of the new education structure.
Students’ study rights will be changed from major subjects to degree programmes in connection of annual registration 2020–2021.
Transferring from a major subject to a degree programme
If you have started your studies before 1 August 2017, you can transfer to study, in accordance with the new curriculum valid from 1 August 2017, in a degree programme that corresponds to your major subject already before the study right will be changed after 31 December 2020. Please notice that the transfer is binding. After the transfer is confirmed, your study right in the major subject ceases and you cannot return to the major subject anymore.
You can report the transfer to a degree programme by returning study right change notification to your faculty’s head of student and academic affairs.
