HSK – Chinese proficiency test

The HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) test is China's only official test of Chinese language for second language learners. At JYU, the test is organized once every year by the Movi.

As the first part of the introductory course package, the course offers a comprehensive introduction of Mandarin Chinese to students with no previous backgrounds in Chinese.

As the second part of the introductory course package, the course continues to build up students’ vocabulary to be used in oral communication in daily study and work situations. Cultural aspects of the language will also be covered.

This is a minor course in the introductory course package that helps students gain a better understanding of the Chinese phonetic system and practice pronunciation more systematically so as to sound more natural. This course is designed for students at all levels.

This is a minor course in the Chinese introductory course package to develop students’ character writing skills. This course is aimed for the students at any level in Chinese learning.

This is the first part of the intermediate course package to further develop students’ speaking skills in Chinese, helping students to speak more confidently about different daily topics. This course is aimed at students with a basic level in Chinese.

This is the second part of the intermediate course package to further enhance students’ ability to discuss and write in Chinese about diverse topics. This course aims at students with an intermediate level in Chinese.

A hybrid (online and contact teaching) intensive course for developing skills to pass the official Chinese language proficiency tests. This course targets students who would like to obtain a proficiency certificate in Chinese.

This course introduces students to Chinese social values and practices through a touch on Chinese history and traditions, as well as Chinese business culture. This course is open to all students.
