Nordplus

Through Nordplus, you can study in the Nordic countries and Baltic states. If your own discipline does not have a Nordplus network of its own, you can study in the Nordic countries through the Nordlys programme.

Principles of Nordplus exchange

All Bachelor's and Master's level students whose faculty/department/field of study is a member of a Nordplus network can apply for Nordplus exchange to study in the Nordic (and Baltic) countries. Nordplus exchange is possible after having completed at least one year of studies at JYU.

Nordplus student mobility is not available for doctoral students.

Nordplus student grants are given for full-time studies lasting for 1-12 months in a Nordplus network university. Some networks also give grants for Nordplus Express mobility which can last for 1-4 weeks. The studies completed during the exchange period must be fully transferable to the JYU degree.

Nordplus grant

The Nordplus student grant is given for one or two semesters. The Nordplus grant consists of  a student and travel grant. During the academic year 2021-2022, the student grant is a maximum of 200 €/month (depending on the network). The travel grant is a maximum of (depending on the network):

  • 330 € for Sweden, Norway and Denmark
  • 660 € for Iceland
  • 1300 € for Greenland

Nordplus networks which have signed a multilateral Erasmus agreement can pay an Erasmus grant to students. Please contact your faculty-level coordinator for more information on the grant of the Nordplus network in question.

Within the Nordplus Express mobility, the student grant is a maximum of 20 €/day, 70 €/week/5 working days) or 200 €/month. The travel grants are the same as in long-term mobility (see above).

Studies during Nordplus exchange are free of charge. If you are eligible, you can apply for the Finnish student financial aid to cover your accommodation and living expenses.

It is possible to apply for an accessibility grant to cover additional costs of the exchange caused by a disability, illness, learning difficulty, or other special need(s). The grant can be given for e.g. accessible housing, travel, or study-related special arrangements. This type of grant can cover up to 100% of the additional costs.
