Students' volunteer projects
Students from at least three FORTHEM Alliance universities can create their own volunteer projects. There are projects which have already been suggested by NGOs or local associations or you may develop an idea for the project yourself and suggest it for an NGO or local association. FORTHEM funding for projects can be applied for. In addition, a project course will be offered to support you in the project management.
FORTHEM Student Council
The Student Council plays an important role in the Alliance’s operations. Two students from each partner university are appointed to the council. The Student Council participates in the decision making by bringing forward opinions, statements, and development propositions from students and student associations to the higher decision-making bodies of the alliance. The Student Council chooses a representative among them for the FORTHEM Steering Committee, consisting of the Vice Rectors of the FORTHEM universities. Additionally, it appoints a representative to each of the five Mission Boards that manage focus areas and their activities in the alliance. The Student Council meets four to five times a year, mostly remotely, but occasionally physical travelling also takes place. Being a representative in the FORTHEM Student Council is a good fit for you if you are interested in international cooperation of higher education communities, in its development and organization, and if you are possibly planning a career in international project and management positions. The application for the FORTHEM Student Council positions is organised annually at the beginning of the autumn semester by the Student Union JYY.
FORTHEM Labs
In the FORTHEM Labs, university researchers and students work closely together with the surrounding societies to find research-based solutions to timely challenges, in an international context. There are seven different themes in the Labs, and students are welcome to join according to their own interests, for example related to their Master’s thesis topic.
FORTHEM Digital Academy
FORTHEM Digital Academy offers students a possibility to choose online courses from other FORTHEM universities. The Digital Academy connects the Moodle platforms of all partner universities.
FORTHEM Buddy Programme
The FORTHEM Buddy Programme is an informal opportunity for first-year students to connect with students from other FORTHEM universities by participating in group activities online. Joining a Buddy group is an excellent way to practice your language skills, network and make new friends in all corners of Europe! .
