Basic information on the course
- Enroll in the course LIBESIS Systematic Information Seeking (1 ECTS credits) in Sisu.
- The course is available several months during autumn and spring semesters, and it's recommended for all English speaking students at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥. Some master's programmes have the course as a compulsory course.
- Finnish speaking students generally attend the course LIB1THP Tiedonhankinnan perusteet.
- If the course is not available at the moment, you can still study the material independently and use the information seeking plan.
- Up-to-date information on upcoming and ongoing implementations can be found in Sisu with the tag LIBESIS.
Study instructions
- The course is completed by making an information seeking plan. The information seeking plan includes questions and tasks that guide you through the different stages of information seeking.
- You can see the learning goals of the course in the curriculum.
Course completion in a nutshell:
- Sign up for the course. You will be automatically added to the course's Moodle page, which opens when the course starts.
- Familiarise yourself with the template of the information seeking plan in Moodle.
- Select the scientific topic on which you are looking for information, for example, the topic of your thesis or course work.
- Answer the questions in the information seeking plan and do the things requested in it. The aim is to practice scientific information seeking and find relevant scholarly sources.
- Submit the plan. This is usually done in two parts: first part A, wait for feedback, then part B.
