Summertime studies

It is possible to complete studies at the university during the summer. This page contains information about the course offerings of both faculties and other institutions offering summer courses. Summer studies are mostly done independently, but there is face-to-face teaching, for example, in communication and language studies. If you wish, you may apply for Kela's student aid (the Social Insurance Institution of Finland).

Evaluation of study units may take longer during the summer, as the time limit for notifying of completed study units does not include periods during which, upon the decision by the rector, teaching is not arranged.

Please note that the academic year changes between July and August. Degree students can complete studies in the semesters they have registered as attending. If you study in August, you must be registered as attending on August 1.

34. Jyväskylän kansainvälinen kesäkoulu - 34th Jyväskylä Summer School&�Բ��;(4.–15.8.2025).&�Բ��;

Each year, the International Summer School offers advanced courses for Master's students and more advanced specialised courses for PhD students. The aim of the Summer School is to support interdisciplinary studies and internationalisation of students by providing high quality teaching in English by renowned lecturers. Each year, around 350 students from more than 40 countries participate in the Summer School. Organised jointly with the Faculty of Information Technology and the Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences.

The general chemistry exams in June-August are on Monday 2.6. and Friday 13.6. and 22.8. The summer exams are at 12-16 as remote or contact exams, depending on the course. Please register for the exams at least one week before the exam date in Sisu.

Physics

Physics exams are held on general examination days on Fridays 9.5.2025, 13.6.2025 and 22.8.2025 at 12-16. Registration in Sisu.
