The ACACIA Project invites submissions that re-imagine LGBTQI+ relationships in the Global South. Particularly, we are interested in:

  • street-level relationships (police, army, religious authorities, traditional authorities, sports, family, school),
  • relationships with NGOs,
  • NGO experiences of relationships with LGBTQI+ persons,
  • NGO (international and local) experiences with other NGOs, ministries, institutions, media.

15 October 2025 - deadline for abstract submissions

15 December 2025 - notification of acceptance

15 January 2026 - registration opens

15 April 2026 - registration closed

15-17 June 2026 - conference

The detailed programme will be published here after the call for papers has closed.

The conference will start on Monday 15 June 2026 at 11:00 and end on Wednesday 17 June 2026 at around 17:15. The organising team reserves the right to change the time at a later stage.

Practical Information

Conference Venue

The conference takes place in the Agora building, at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ Mattilanniemi campus, on the shore of Lake Jyväsjärvi. The building is just next to the Hotel Alba and a short walk from the Jyväskylä city center (15-20 min) and the city harbour (10 min).

All presentations are held in the same room(s), with coffee breaks in the adjacent lobby. Lunch is available in Agora's Piato Restaurant.

Conference will take place in the Agora building in the Mattilanniemi Campus by the lake Jyväsjärvi.
