The Ģֱ Centre for Applied Language Studies, Apila Applied Linguistics Doctoral Seminar, the and the proudly present a Researcher Training Seminar on the Politics of Participatory Language Research on 20 – 21 August 2025 at the Ģֱ, Finland (on-site only, time zone: EEST, Helsinki).
The topic of the workshop will be examined through the following themes:
- How global and national politics shape the possibilities of participatory research and how participatory research responds to the political moment in which it is carried out
- How participatory approaches are constrained or enabled by the politics of institutions and disciplines, including reward structures, publication processes, funding mechanisms, and more
- The power dynamics of the research relationship and how power can shift (or not) when we center participation as a principle
