Interaction induced topological excitations in an array of non-topological Bose-Einstein condensates

We study the topology of the collective density oscillations of a superlattice of Bose-Einstein condensates coupled to each other through particle-particle interactions. We rewrite the linear response equation for the density oscillations in the resonance condition as an eigenvalue problem. The eigenvalues and eigenvectors of this equation respectively correspond to the dispersions of the collective modes and the density-oscillations. We also demonstrate that a one-dimensional bipartite superlattice of Bose-Einstein condensates is equivalent to the electronic Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model. The existence or absence of the topological edge excitations depends on the strength of the intra-cell and inter-cell interactions.
