Environment as a heritage - permanent exhibition displays the diversity of nature in Central Finland

The Natural History Museum, part of Jyväskylä University Museum, collects, preserves, studies and exhibits the diversity of nature in Central Finland. Our permanent exhibition, Environment as a Heritage, serves visitors as a guide to Central Finland's diverse natural environment. In addition to the permanent exhibition, there are also temporary exhibitions.

The permanent exhibition, Environment as a Heritage, presents the nature of Central Finland, from the oldest bedrock to the present-day sites of the 21st century. The exhibition is about biodiversity, species and environmental protection, and is designed with environmental education in mind. The exhibition features the most important natural sites in Central Finland. The themes of the exhibition include predators, winter nature, water bodies and forest and swamp nature. The geology section includes information on the Ice Age, soil and the structure of the Earth. In addition to the permenet exhibition, there will be temporary exhibitions.
