FORTHEM Multilingualism in School and Higher Education Lab invites early career researchers to a casual conference to present their current research plan/results and discuss multilingualism from different perspectives, be it cognitive, linguistic, sociolinguistic, educational or other.

As part of the fifth FORTHEM Campus semester in Autumn 2023, launches its brand-new course “Approaches to Multilingualism”, showcasing cutting-edge Finnish and international research in the field of multilingualism. The contributors are academics, students, and external partners from the FORTHEM Alliance universities and beyond.

As part of the course, we organise a casual conference for early career researchers on related research to multilingualism from different perspectives, be it cognitive, linguistic, sociolinguistic, educational or other. We invite early career researchers to present their current research plan/results in individual slots to approach multilingualism from different viewpoints. This is a great chance for you to present your research, have discussions with students researching a similar topic, get feedback and questions and network. The presentation length will be 15/20 minutes. After each individual presentation, there will be some dedicated time to openly discuss and give ideas and comments on participants’ research. You can present either in person in Jyväskylä or online via Zoom. The organizers cannot reimburse participants’ travel costs but provide invitation letters or other supporting documents for travel grant applications on demand.

The submission deadline for abstracts was 15 September.
