Learning and memory
Though we may commonly think that learning is a matter of deliberate effort, it is pervasive in our lives - we learn even (and especially) when we sleep!
We study memory formation at the cellular level, in accordance with bodily rhythms, as well as the effects of physical activity and fitness on learning. Our study of learning and cognition covers a wide range of methods at all levels of neural activity ranging from single neurons to whole-head recordings. At the time of writing, the Centre of Excellence in Learning Dynamics and Intervention Research operates from Jyväskylä. We build on top of the university's long history in the study of learning difficulties.
