Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥'s LIFE Revives project team prepared for the upcoming field season

The LIFE Revives JYU team met at the Konnevesi research station to plan the next field season.

The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ (JYU) project team planned the upcoming field season at the Konnevesi research station during two days. The JYU team planned future project activities and the timing of field work. One of the planned activities is the reintroduce some of the Konnevesi-born FPM to their home river during the summer.

The planning days also included a farewell party for project manager Heidi Kunttu. We wished Heidi good luck in her new job as a fish disease expert.

We also went to say hello to the big and small FPM at the captive site. The Konnevesi research station's water hall is used to breed fry, which are then returned to their genetic home river. The aim is to strengthen populations of the endangered species through captive breeding.

The second planning day continued with a seminar on the project. It was attended by researchers from the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ and a guest speaker from the USA. We heard presentations on LIFE Revives, FPM and other mussels.
