Welcome to ASTRA Symposium at ESWRA Conference in Amsterdam 8 April 2022
The early-stage researchers of the ASTRA Project are pleased to invite you to the upcoming symposium at the ESWRA (European Social Work Research Association) conference 2022 in Amsterdam entitled Sustainability Beyond Borders: Re-imagining Social Work, Research & Practice with ASTRA Project. On Friday 8 April from 15:30 to 17:00, we will present and discuss theories, ideas, and projects that focus on the concept of sustainability and social work and want to start a debate among participants. What distinguishes us is certainly the will to innovate in social work practice through project members that represent a wide diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and cultures. We will be very pleased to guide you through an interactive meeting through a learning process that asks social workers to think big about their ontological approach. We will address the concept of sustainability from three perspectives: Environmental, Economic and Social, creating a continuum between the different perspectives.
Our main objectives are the following:
- To share experiences & key learning from the first year of the ASTRA project;
- To highlight major themes of sustainability and social inclusion in communities across Europe;
- To collaboratively discuss strategies for incorporating environmental sustainability and social inclusion into social work research/practice;
- To lay a foundation for self-examination and group discussion around ontology, epistemology and methodology of eco-social work.
