Partner Organisations

The partner organisations of ASTRA represent a rich variety of European cross-sectoral organisations from ST practices, networking and policy-making, as well as knowledge of the MSC and vulnerable groups. Partner organisations are fully engaged in ASTRA to provide training, secondments, case study material and training sites for the development of transferable skills of the ESRs.

(ODL) is a non-profit social and healthcare organization with 330 employees and annual turnover of 17 million euros. ODL offers a wide range of social, health and rehabilitation services focusing in promotion of healthy behaviors, wellbeing, employment, and empowerment of citizens, especially those who are marginalised or at risk of marginalisation, as well as educational programmes, development projects and research and innovation in these fields. ODL owns companies which offer residential care and home services for seniors, war veterans, family caregivers and people with disabilities. ODL also provide child welfare services to supplement municipal services, supporting children, young people and families in difficult life situations.

ODL Department of Sports and Exercise Medicine is one of the six Finnish centres of excellence in sports and exercise medicine funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture. It is an international research, development and education unit, whose mission is to promote health and wellbeing of citizens by conducting research on the associations and effects of physical activity behaviour on physical, social and mental health and wellbeing at different age groups. The research is conducted within Physical Activity and Health Across the Lifespan –program where the main focus areas are 1) trajectories and determinants of physically active and sedentary lifestyle across the lifespan 2) effect of physical activity behaviour on health and wellbeing 3) effect of residential environment on physical activity, health and wellbeing 4) technology in promoting healthy behaviour at different age groups. The research group is lead by professor Raija Korpelainen.

is a Portuguese environmental non-governmental organization. ZERO works on the main environmental areas, with a closer focus on circular economy and climate change. Most of our activity is focused on advocating public policies that promote sustainability and implementing projects that demonstrate ZERO’s vision of sustainability. ZERO is also a member of several European coalitions of NGOs in the environmental area.

is a young, dynamic and forward-thinking university. It is a merger (2003) of the former three university institutions in Antwerp (RUCA, UFSIA and UIA). It ranks 18th in the “QS Top 50 Under 50 2020” and is a founding member of the Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) alliance, which was selected in the first European Universities Initiative call in February 2019. The University has ca. 1850 PhD students, 680 tenured professors, over 350 assistants and over 3400 tenured researcher and education staff members. It produces over 3600 peer-reviewed scientific publications per year. The European Commission has awarded the University the “HR Excellence in Research” quality label.

UAntwerp has an excellent track record as to the participation in EU framework research and innovation programmes. It participates or has been participating in 124 7th Framework Programme (FP7) projects. Up until 1 January 2021, the University of Antwerp has signed 160 Horizon 2020 grants, including 10 ERC Starting Grants, 6 ERC Consolidator Grants, 1 ERC Advanced Grant, 1 ERC Synergy Grant, 2 ERC Proof-of-Concept, 41 Marie Curie Individual Fellowships, 26 Innovative Training Networks, 4 FET Flagships and 6 Research Infrastructure projects.
