In what way does the organism-environment association drive the development
and evolution of biological diversity?

In this presentation we will discuss the ecological, evolutionary and developmental (eco evo devo) processes that shape the generation and maintenance of biodiversity. In particular, the integrated nature of the organism-environment relationship will be explored, with focus on the responsiveness of developmental systems and ecosystems. This will be connected with the global biodiversity crisis and in what way biologists are creating and contributing knowledge to tackle it. We will use examples from Icelandic nature to support the arguments.
