Learning outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, students will
- have a critical understanding of democracy
- be able to critically consider the implications of educational practice for democratic participation
- have an understanding of the different ways in which methodological innovations can support or undermine democratic participation and development
- be able to critically consider the benefits and challenges of democratic participation in different contexts

- introductions to key concepts and principles associated with democracy
- critical consideration of the connections between different forms of education and the democracy as a lived relationship
