Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, student is able to:
- recognize the role of sport at international, national and local levels
- be able to utilize the knowledge gained about the different ways to organize sport in different countries with reference to their home country

Study methods

Active participation in the lectures (24 hours), practical exercises, and a written assignment. Learning will be facilitated through discussion, computer-based research, group work and presentations.

A learning log to be completed after the course. 5-6 pages for 2 ECTS credits or 15-20 pages for 4 ECTS credits.

Content

During the course sport management will be discussed from the perspective of various countries and regions. Emphasis will be put particularly on:
- Perspectives to organisation and management of sport in the European and Nordic countries
- Organisation of sport in other countries, according to the backgrounds of the participating students

Assessment criteria

100% attendance (with special reason max. 20% non-attendance is possible).
Group works 35%, Learning log 65%.

Learning log: 5-6 pages for 2 ECTS credits or 15-20 pages for 4 ECTS credits.
