Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, student is able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the key aspects and issues related to sport media and the logic of broadcasting of sport

Study methods

Lectures 20 hours and a reading assignment (a book exam, two books). Lectures will be held in English but it is possible to answer either in Finnish or in English in the lecture exam and the book exam.

Content

Definition of mass media, introduction to media as audience former, sports as media content, sport journalism and journalists, the challenges of sport in mass media.
