FYSS9489 MSc Seminar (4 cr)
Learning outcomes
During the seminar the students are working with their Master’s Thesis under guidance of their supervisor. In the seminar the students discuss with peers. The aim of the course is that the students commit themselves into goal-oriented timetable and keeping into it. During the course the students strengthen their skills in project planning and scheduling and recognizes their strengths. The students will be able to present their work understandably and prepare a scientific presentation.

Discussions and interactive sessions, reflection and planning assignments, seminar presentation.
Content
Choosing a topic for the thesis and finding a supervisor (unless done already); familiarizing with completed theses; perceiving the thesis process as a whole; familiarizing with the grading and general expectations; development of one's own topic and presenting it to the other participants in the seminar; scheduling, producing the text; preparing and giving a seminar presentation at the Department; other topics raised by the group.
Further information
The seminar starts in the beginning of the fall or spring season and lasts for two semesters. Please note that a group in English starts only in September. There is an intensive period in the beginning and at the end of the course, and in between the group meets roughly once per month.
Assessment criteria
Active participation in group meetings (attendance >80%) and public presentation of one's own Master's Thesis.
Prerequisites
The choice of the Master Thesis topic is timely or student has just started to work on his thesis project.
