Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
-explain various concepts and approaches to strategies and strategy formulation
-connect sustainability dimensions to strategic thinking/formulation
-describe tensions between business strategies and sustainability
-give examples of different kinds of sustainable business strategies
-produce group assignment

Study methods

Contact teaching course. Spring semester, 3rd period. The stydy methods of the contact teaching course are specified in the study program annually.

Content

Introduction of the concept(s) and different approaches to strategies and strategy formulation. Connecting sustainability dimensions to strategic thinking and giving aspects/reflections to sustainable business strategies (incl. values and goals), competitive advantage, collaboration, capabilities and resources. Discussing about tensions between business strategies and sustainability. Presenting case examples about sustainable business strategies. Deepening knowledge by group assignment.

Pre-requisites: CEMA150/CEMA2110 Business, Society and the Environment.
