FYSS4551 Ultra-relativistinen raskas ioni fysiikka (7 op)
Osaamistavoitteet
This course aims at familiarizing students with ultra-relativistic heavy ion (URHI) physics and methods frequently used the field and prepare potentially interested candidates for an easy integration into the international collaboration/community like those at CERN.
At the end of the course students will be able to analyze large data sets. They will have the understanding of relevant physics topics and they will be able to understand complex URHI experiments, methods of calibration, data processing etc.

Ultra-relativistic heavy ion physics in theory and experiments; key theoretical and experimental aspects of modern high-energy ion physics at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

Arviointiperusteet
The final grade is based on assignments (25 %) and examination (75 %).
