Osaamistavoitteet

Through this course a student gains an understanding of the main structures and challenges of public policy that aims to find solutions to needs of social care, which are growing in every country as a result of population ageing. In particular, this course functions as a resource of knowledge for preparing a master thesis on a theme that is linked to care, ageing or disability.

³§¾±²õä±ô³Ùö

The course will on the one hand cover research on long-term care policy (including institutional and home care), formal and informal care work and comparative research of national social care systems. On the other hand, the course will get acquianted with the perspectives of critical disability studies that challenge care research and instead promote concepts like independent living and personal assistance. The course is based on active participation and group work and thus it requires attendance.
