Osaamistavoitteet
On completion of the course the student will be able to:
- identify and describe major theoretical frameworks in international communication research,
- develop a basic knowledge of the interaction of global media and human society especially in the form of nation-state and countries, and the cultural, economic, political and social consequences of such interaction
- critically analyze the relationship between global media trends and personal choices in media consumption using the course’s theoretical background and methodological approaches.

Lectures, group work, exam. Alternatively, the course can be offered as a book exam. Please check the teaching schedule for possible modes of completion.

The aim of this course is to increase knowledge and awareness of the impact of global media systems, and analyze and critically discuss the main approaches to studying how media systems differ internationally.

Passing the course requires completion of all required assignments in line with stated learning outcomes. An 80% attendance requirement is applied.
