The student
- knows the history of foreign reporting
- recognizes the most important international and national news media focusing on foreign reporting
- understands the work routines of foreign reporters and foreign correspondents
- knows the main sources of foreign reporting
- understands the importance of Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Information for the work of foreign reporting
- recognizes and understands the risks in crisis reporting
- is able to find news about foreign countries and make summaries of recent news events.

This course explores and mixes old traditions of foreign news reporting with new practices. It aims at presenting the basic skills of foreign reporting, and gives opportunities to test foreign reporting also in practice.

Recommended timing: 4th or 5th year (Journalism Master's Degree Programme students: 1st or 2nd year)

Passing the course requires completion of all required assignments in line with stated learning outcomes and active participation in classes. An 80% attendance requirement is applied.
